Behold the Beauty...

...that is the the first smoothie ever made in my very own Vitamix!!!

A wonderful birthday gift from my awesome husband who really out did himself this year. My birthday was this past Friday 6/25), and we spent a long weekend in Vegas to celebrate. While eating dinner at MESA grill on the big day, my husband told me to look in my purse for a surprise. And that's where I found the Vitamix... Just kidding:) My purse in not that big! That's where I found a birthday card letting me know that there was a gift for me at home. I was excited and frustrated as we still had a whole day and a red eye flight until we got home and when I want to know something, I want to know NOW!

But, the gift was definitely worth the wait. And, I was not at all expecting it considering that the weekend before my birthday we celebrated with my family and my husband gave me these shoes that I have been lusting after from Anthropologie. (I am standing on paper because I was not sure of the size. I later decided that they were a good fit.)

All in all it was a great birthday this year. My only complaint is that I did not bring any birthday luck with me to Vegas:(

To continue to celebrate my 33rd year, I have decided to make more of an effort to blog. I think that I got  turned off from it because I was having a hard time finding my groove. But, I have decided to post once a day and give myself some time to get the hang of it.

As an update from previous posts, I have not lost any weight since beginning of the year, but I have lost some inches, so I am happy with that. I stopped counting calories back in January because it was so time consuming while going to school. I am no sure if I will be going back to it or not. I kicked the Diet Pepsi habit for a while, but then I fell off the wagon and I have been drinking it daily for the past 2 weeks. This weekend, I am going to give it up again. I am waiting for the weekend since I do not want to deal with the headache at work. At this point, I am not even really enjoying drinking it, so I just need to give it up and move on!

Anyhow, that's all with me. I hope to post daily. I am still going to try to lose the last 15 lbs that I set out to lose earlier this year. And, I hope that along the way, I can connect with some like-minded people.

A Confession...

I have a confession.

I don't really discuss my beverage consumption on the blog because I generally don't drink any calories. But, I do have a bit of a problem... You see, I crave Diet Pepsi in the morning like most people crave coffee. I drink it every morning like it's my job and some days I double up with a second dose in the evening.

Back in December, I planned to quit my habit. But, work and school got very stressful and I quit quitting. Which brings me to today. The first day in February- my new official quit day... It would be crazy to say that Diet Pepsi's delicious, chemical-filled goodness will never cross my lips again. But, I will give up my daily consumption and stick to drinking it on rare occasions.

It's going to be a long day. Wish me luck!

Lazy Sunday

Good Evening! What an awesome day I have had so far! I woke up feeling a little sick this morning and I completely forgot to take a picture of my breakfast. I had toast with cinnamon raisin peanut butter.

Lunch was a repeat of yesterday, but this time I added more broccoli and cauliflower, which I think that I forgot to mention yesterday... I did not snap a picture of this meal either because we had friends over for lunch and I am not really ready to tell people about the blog yet.

I did get this picture of my husband and my dog Nifkin playing soccer in the back yard:

My husband and my friend's husband were kicking the ball back and forth and Nifkin was so excited to play with them. This is the first time that we had kicked a ball in front of him, but we will definitely be doing this more often.

Dinner was Ian's Wheat Free French Bread Pizza with some lemon pepper broccoli and cauliflower. It hit the spot and satisfied my craving. I also had a glass of Sangria on the side. I did not measure, but I made it with some red wine, WF 365 Brand Orange Creme Soda, TJ's Agave Sweetener and pear and orange chunks.  Not bad for a first attempt:)

Well I am off to try to get to bed early so that I can wake up on time for boot camp tomorrow. Wish me luck!
